Be careful to allow extra time if you bring up sailing around Jack. It has been a passion of his for the past fifteen years. A veteran of five races from San Francisco to Hawaii, he loves the time on the boat. During the winter his focus switches to racquetball, but strictly on a casual basis.

My practice centers around my office in Sacramento but we routinely handle matters in Placer, El Dorado, Yolo, Sutter, San Joaquin, Contra Costa, Solano, and Yuba Counties. In special cases I have traveled to Los Angeles, Siskiyou, San Francisco, Orange, San Bernardino, Modesto, and Amador Counties.

The Staff - Michele Weber:

A dynamo, Michele is a colorful and friendly assistant in the office. Clients routinely give her rave reviews for understanding, direction and knowledge. Her experience in Corporate Human Resources and the medical field make her uniquely qualified to address the concerns of our clients. She has many years of personal injury work behind her now so the procedural steps in a case are very familiar to her. She can answer many questions herself and will always get unusual questions to Jack to be addressed. You will find her an excellent resource as your case progresses.

For fun away from the office, she is a distance runner who enjoys the American River Canyon and the bike trail. She also takes care of her “Dobies,” two young but not small Dobermans. They regularly get a multi-mile workout with her.

Referrals to :

In many cases, there are firms that handle a large volume of one particular kind of case. These include dangerous prescription drug cases, asbestos injuries, civil rights matters (§1983), clergy abuse, workers compensation, cigarette injuries, Family Law/ Divorce, Criminal Matters, DMV hearings, appeals, medical malpractice, Wills and Living Trusts, and even adoptions. We provide a unique service by being your attorney advocate in your dealings with the other law firm. This work can almost always be arranged without any additional attorney fee. Our fee is negotiated with the main firm.

Fee arrangements:

There is no charge for the initial consultation on most cases. It is a community service to evaluate cases and give that initial free advice. Only on Wrongful Employment Practice cases and a rare few others is there a charge because of the amount of information needed to evaluate those cases. Call in. Give a thumbnail to Michele and have an answer in most cases within a week.

Except for employment cases, all matters are handled on a contingency fee basis. That means that your obligation to pay for attorney fees depends on whether that representation produces a recovery. If there is no recovery there are no fees and you owe nothing.

Because of the added risk and up front expense of employment cases and medical malpractice suits, a cooperative custom agreement can usually be reached that includes some participation by the client and a part hourly and part contingent approach to the attorney fees.

Advertising:

Our approach to advertising has always been low key. Almost all of our new cases come from satisfied past clients and referrals from other attorneys who recognize the expertise of the office and trust us to get exceptional results for their clients. The cost of a full page advertisement in the Yellow Pages runs $4-5,000 per month. You pay for that since the atty must devote time to covering that additional expense—like a part time atty. Some offices do not have the patience to develop the case to its maximum potential but instead are tempted to settle for less to pay the ad bill and move on. Paying more to the phone company for advertising does not mean an attorney pays more attention to you.
